  • Differentiated Competitive Position: Citi Trends is the only off-price retailer specifically focused on Black customers. With nearly 600 stores in neighborhood shopping centers where our customers live and shop, we have created a uniquely loyal, high-frequency customer base with word-of-mouth and proximity serving as powerful traffic drivers.  

  • Extremely Loyal Customer Base Across All Income Levels:  Our strategy is built around a clear and unwavering focus on the style, price, and trend sensibilities of the Black customer who is at the center of everything we do.  We serve customers across all income levels. More than one-third of our customers have household incomes ranging from $75,000 to $150,000. These are our most frequent shoppers, shopping with us weekly or biweekly. Our next tier visits monthly, typically with incomes of $50,000 to $75,000. And we serve a third segment of less frequent, more budget-conscious customers with lower household incomes. Our significant portion of average and higher-income customers creates tremendous opportunity as we expand our assortment of recognizable brands at exceptional prices that align with their style and trend preferences. 

  • Product Strategy: Our product strategy centers on a three-tiered approach designed to serve customers across all income levels. At the opening price point, we offer value-focused basics for our most budget-conscious customers. The core of our business is our 'better' tier—quality products with breadth of selection and fresh styles, driving customer loyalty and consistent performance across all categories: Women's, Men's, Children's, Footwear, and Home. At the top end, we're expanding our 'best' tier by adding more trend-relevant product at prices well below specialty retail and by building our extreme value capabilities via well-known brands purchased at steep discounts to MSRP. These deals capitalize on supply chain disruptions and surplus inventory in the market. These branded treasures drive both traffic and basket growth while delivering strong margin performance.

  • Compelling Transformation: Citi Trends is in early stages of a compelling transformation and has a clear and tangible path to creating shareholder value — one that is grounded in discipline, detail, and execution. We have a clear line of sight to achieve ~$45 EBITDA in fiscal 2027, representing a $60 million dollar increase from fiscal 2024 results. We are targeting $150 million of incremental total sales compared to 2024, driven by consistent comparable store sales growth plus the addition of new stores, achieving sales of $900 million or more in 2027. We will leverage technology and innovation to drive gross profit rate expansion of 400 basis points to 42% and will continue to control costs, leveraging  SGA by 200 basis points.

  • Strong Financial Position: We operate with a debt-free balance sheet, ample cash on hand and an undrawn $75 million revolver. This financial strength gives us flexibility to invest in growth initiatives while maintaining operational stability. Over time, this strength will enable the company to selectively pursue strategic roll-ups and synergistic acquisitions to further drive sustainable shareholder value.

  • Experienced Leadership Team Aligned with Shareholders: Our management team, composed of seasoned leaders with extensive experience in the retail industry, has a proven track record in each of their disciplines. They are led by CEO Ken Seipel, the company’s second largest shareholder, who brings a wealth of retail experience across merchandising, operations and strategy plus experience as a leader and co-owner of several successful turnarounds.  The management team is incented to drive incremental shareholder value through short and long-term incentive compensation structures, aligning their actions with shareholder interests.
